On the Theory of the Ceramic Densification Process and of Recrystallization in Colloidal Solutions*

چکیده
In the theory of the ceramic densification process the starting point is that the material transport consists mainly of diffusion processes. At least three different contributions are however distingutshable : volume diffusion, grain boundary diffusion and surface difksionl. For volume diffusion it has been shown tbeorctica& that in ionic compounds an optimal delusion rate can bc obtained by appropriate controf of the crystal lattice defectz?. In these theories calculations are based upon equilibria and transport of the lattice defects rather than those of the real components. This has the advantage that the methods used are mathematically analogous to those applied to solutions of salts in water. lo demonstrate this we compare a porous crystal of Mg0 with AgCl crystallites in contact with 8 saturated solutionIn MgO we distinguish two types of lattice vacancies V,, and &, with concentrations in accordance with the Schottky equilibrium: _

Evaluation of Heterogeneous Densification, Anisotropic Shrinkage and Rheological Behavior of Ceramic Materials during Liquid Phase Sintering by Numerical-Experimental Procedure
The effective shear and bulk viscosity, as well as dynamic viscosity, describe the rheological properties of the ceramic body during the liquid phase sintering process. The rheological parameters depend on the physical and thermo-mechanical characteristics of the material such as relative density, temperature, grain size, diffusion coefficient, and activation energy. Thermal behavior of the cer...
متن کاملFinite element simulation of pyroplastic deformation, anisotropic shrinkage and heterogeneous densification for ceramic materials during liquid phase sintering process
Pyroplastic deformation is a distortion of the ceramic shape during the sintering process. It occurs because the flow of the vitreous phase at high temperature and the applied stress due to the weight of the product during sintering process. The aim of this paper deals with describing a numerical-experimental method to evaluate the pyroplastic deformation, to predict the anisotropic shrinkage a...

Abstract The main goal of this study is optimization of densification of ZrB2-SiC composites reinforced with chopped Cf prepared by SPS. Taguchi method is employed as statistical design of experiment (DOE) to optimize densification parameters including SiC, Cf, MoSi2, HfB2 and ZrC content, milling time of Cf and SPS parameters such as temperature, time and pressure. Each of these factors ...

In this research, the densification of magnesia nanopowder with a mean particle size of about 100 nm was investigated by spark plasma sintering undera pressures of 80 MPa and at temperature range from 1000 °C to 1400 °C and a heating rate of 50 °C/min for 20 minutes. The density of the samples slowly increased with increasing sintering temperatures to 1200 °C. Afterwards, with more increasing o...
